Camping with the Pops

Summer Chamber Music Program

July 8 – 12, 2024

This week-long camp promises an incredible experience for young musicians to expand their musical skills. Rehearsing in small ensembles, guided by professional music educators, the student musicians will prepare a program of selections to be presented in a free concert
on Friday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the SCF Studio for the Performing Arts Recital Hall.

The Camping with the Pops Summer Chamber Music Program, is sponsored by the Hecht Foundation and hosted by the State College of Florida (SCF) on their Bradenton campus.

Location

All activities take place on the Bradenton campus of State College of Florida in the Performance Arts building.

Camp Faculty/Coaches

Woodwind Quintet – Dr. Jane Hoffman, Pops Principal Flute, SCF Adjunct Instructor at SCF

String Ensemble – Nikki Rinsema, Pops Concert Master

Jazz Combo – Vic Mongillo, Pops Principal* Trumpet, Pine View School Director of Bands

Percussion Ensemble – Jarek Vogt, Music Education Senior at USF

Low Brass Choir – Dan Dodds, Pops Principal Trombone

Saxophone Choir – Zach McKee, Pops Saxophone Player, Sarasota Middle School Band Director”

Students have their choice of an ensemble based on ability including:

Clarinet Choir

Camp Rehearsals and Concert

July 8 – 12, 2024
Monday – Friday
6 pm to 8 pm
Concluding concert on Friday at 7:30 pm

Applying students must:

Be recommended by their teacher
Have at least two years playing experience
Be able to attend all rehearsals and the concert
Complete the on-line registration with a liability waiver and photo release
Submit a $75 camp fee with the application.
