Our season opener kicks off in November with our annual salute to veterans concert. Hear tribute artists Nick Foresman and Jason Elsenheimer recreate the music of Simon and Garfunkel in classics that include “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Scarborough Fair” and “Sounds of Silence,” plus many more. And, join us as we honor our nation’s veterans with “God Bless the USA,” and “Salute to the Armed Forces. Jointly sponsored by the Military Officers Association of Sarasota, discounted tickets are available to veterans and their families and all profits will be donated to the MOAS Scholarship Fund for graduating high school students and returning veterans continuing their education.

Bring in the holidays with Charles Dickens’ beloved Christmas Carol as you’ve never seen or heard it before. Enjoy the timeless story of Ebenezer Scrooge through the glorious, memorable and irresistible new songs in this holiday classic. With music styles from classical to Broadway and blues to gospel, and joined by the State College of Florida’s fabulous chorus and special guest artists, the Pops will create for an unforgettable concert for the whole family.

By our Valentine as Carla Del Villaggio, a multiple award winning tribute artist, joins the Pops to present music of the Greatest Star, the incomparable Barbra Streisand. From the hair down to the trademark nails and wearing meticulously detailed replicas of iconic concert gowns, Carla is Simply Streisand in every way. And, along with Carla, the Pops will feature its own talented musicians performing lots of music to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Our season finale is really “By Popular Demand.” You, the audience, become the concert producer. Using personnel cellphones and a downloaded app choose the music and even the conductor by majority vote. From categories like “John Williams Film Scores” where choices might be between Star War, Schindler’s List or Saving Private Ryan,” to “Broadway Favorites,”  “Pop Classics” and even “Guest Conductor,” everyone is a musical impresario. Even the orchestra gets to choose their favorites in a concert that promises to be fun for everyone.
